Indian Food and grocery market is World’s 6th Largest. Things you should know before starting a Food Stall or a Restaurant.


1. Food License

Food license is to be issued by Food safety and standard authority (FSSAI) of india. Food License Its role is to ensure the quality of food served by the restaurants and other display requirements.


2. Shop and Establishment act 1958

Shop and Establishment act 1958 – Act safeguards employee rights and working conditions. Trade license Trade license from local Municipal Authority.


3. Fire Safety Certificate

Fire Safety Certificate i.e an NOC from fire department of your city. Liquor and Bar License- Provided by Excise Dept of every state.


4, GST Registration

Cloud Kitchens, Zomato, Swiggy etc – Mandatory Registration. Other Restaurants and Food Stall’s – If Aggregate Turnover exceeds 40 lakh in case of goods and 20 Lakhs in case of services.

GST Rate-

a. All the Restaurants weather Air conditioned or not will charge GST @5% without ITC.

b. Restaurants in hotel premises having room tariff exceeding 7500 will charge GST @18% with ITC.
